Arrange for an Examination or Operation
Scheduling your operation
Once the surgeon has recommended a hernia repair, our office will schedule your operation. We will make every effort to book your operation on a date that suits your schedule.
Ontario Patients - Option 1WALK-IN CLINICIf you think you have a hernia and you live within a 1-hour drive or 100 km (60 miles) of Toronto, you should come to our walk-in clinic for a personal examination by one of our hernia surgeons. Ontario Patients - Option 2If you live more than 100 km (60 miles) simply follow the instructions intended for non-Ontario Residents and complete the medical consultation form. Whenever possible, we recommend that you visit our clinic for a diagnosis. Your symptoms may not be caused by a hernia or you may have a health condition that should be managed before surgery. An accurate diagnosis by an experienced hernia surgeon is the best way to find out if you really need a hernia operation. |
NON-ONTARIO PATIENTSMEDICAL CONSULTATION FORMIf you are not an Ontario resident, you can arrange for an examination, admission and operation all in one visit. ![]() |
If you prefer, you can also print the forms on your printer and mail or fax (905-889-4216) them to our office. However, nothing is better than a doctor’s examination.
Next steps: After examining you at the clinic or reviewing your medical questionnaires, the surgeon will make a diagnosis and decide if a hernia repair is necessary or if further information is required. Please allow 2 to 3 days to evaluate your information before contacting us for an update.
In some cases, we cannot schedule your operation until certain requirements are met:
- If you have a chronic medical condition, we may ask your doctor to send us a report on your medical history.
- If you are overweight, you may be asked to lose weight before your operation. We offer a diet counselling service to help you reach your weight loss goals and “get in shape” for your operation.
